The paisley motif is one of the most popular of Barbara Bixby’s designs, and she has interpreted this exotic shape in many different materials.
Barbara explains: There are many theories about the original inspiration of the paisley shape. In my studies, I have learned that the shape comes from a stylized rendition of a Bodhi leaf, which comes from the tree that Buddha was said to have used for meditation.

Mood Swings & Other Furniture 
This is wonderful. I am not personally a big fan of “paisley” but these designs are gorgeous, and now I may “take the plunge” myself and order some of these beautiful treasures! It seems that anything Barbara designs, I come to love!
